A message from our Director of Rugby

Welcome to Market Rasen and Louth RUFC, the Premium home of Lincolnshire Wolds Grassroots Rugby.

I am looking forward to an action packed season (both on and off the pitch) again in Counties 1, building on our table climbing session last year.

DOR Vision & Club Ethos

My vision for the team this year, is to play in a style the lads will enjoy and will excite our great and loyal supporters.  To play and work to the Rugby Core values of :-

  • Teamwork
  • Respect
  • Enjoyment
  • Discipline
  • Sportsmanship

We will continue to promote our strategy in games of “Player Lead” approach and responsibility while also continuing to develop, promote and integrate both new and home grown talent.

Our club has a rich history over the last 75 years boasting local legends, ex-players including a four time world cup player, and Tigers players.  While very proud we want to build on this and make our own history and move the club forward in its next chapter.

Coaching Team

I am delighted to announce a new and exciting Senior Coaching team this year, with a wealth of specialist coaching expertise who have played at a professional level.

The coaching team consists of a

  • Head Coach - Andrew Morris (Mozza)
  • Dedicated Backs Coach - Matthew Sutton
  • Two Dedicated Forwards Coaches - Pete Southwell & Chris Starling
  • Strength and Conditioning Coach - Paul Cook
  • Physio - Sam Allison

Teams & Players

We run two Senior Teams

  • The 1st XV play in the Counties 1 East/North League
  • The Wolfhounds development XV play in the NLD Merit League.

Our Colts Team

  • Play in the NLD & RFU U18 National Cup.

Our Senior Teams is a great blend of experienced players, a few Rasen legends and our up and coming home grown talent.

Last year seven players made the step up from our Colts team into senior rugby.

New and ex players are always welcome.

We have been pushing hard in pre-season on fitness and expanding our players skill set as individuals and as a team.

Integration

Over the last few years, we have changed our structures, with a far greater emphasis on closer integration with our Colts and Senior team, to support in that important step to Adult Rugby (which is the future of our game).

In addition, members of our senior coaching staff and players support our Mini & Junior section with coaching and “Specialist Sessions”, which again we intend to develop further this coming year.

Training

Our Senior and Colts team train on a Tuesday and Thursday evening.

Mini and Junior Section

We have a thriving Mini and Junior Section with over 250 children of all ages, genders, experience, and abilities, who also play to the Rugby ethos and inclusion, opportunity for all and fun is at the heart of all we do.  More details can be found at Market Rasen & Louth RUFC - Mini & Junior (rfu.club)

I look forward to seeing past, present and new club members this season supporting our team, and the atmosphere in “Crowie’s” bar after.
