U15s make NLD RFU Shield Final
Rasen U15s 25 - 5 Chesterfiled Panthers U15s
Following a successful campaign in the pool stages assisted by 2 sides that were unwilling to play a very competitive red and green squad, the U15s travelled to Sleaford RUFC for the semi-finals day and and afternoon fixture against Chesterfield Panthers.
After another encouraging performance a fortnight previously against current Cup holders Newark RUFC (who are also through to this year's Cup final), where Rasen were defeated by 5 tries to 4, a fairly bouyant and expansive performance was expected by travelling supporters. On this occasion it was not forthcoming and a battling Chesterfield side, bolstered by recent recruitment, gave Rasen a lesson in not giving up on possession and were able to turn over too many simple rucks to scare both coaches and supporters by scoring a try to level the game at 5 - 5.
To be fair this was not a pretty game with too many errors and too much complacency but 5 tries to 1 says Rasen won and are through to the NLD RFU Shield Final to be held again at Sleaford RUFC on Sunday 28th April 2013 (time to be confirmed). The opposition will be Welland Barbarians - a merger of Deepings RUFC and Stamford RUFC.
Congratulations to the squad on their progress so far. All support for the lads at the Final would be warmly welcomed from all corners of the club. Kick off time, when announced, will be added to the U15 fixtures list
